The Application Of Task-Based Approach In English Teaching Of Primary School

With the globalization of economy, the importance of English is increasingly prominent. In 2012, the New English Curriculum Standards which the Ministry of Education issued recommended task-based approach in the class.Elementary period is very important for students to learn English, because they are at a critical period of language learning, but since most of the schools have English classes from Grade three, "deaf English", "dumb English" is common during Chinese learners.New Curriculum Standards promoted task-based approach to improve students’motivation and interests of learning English, to change "spoon-fed" teaching methods, but task-based approach is still in the preliminary development stage in our country.Most of the teachers still would not like to change their way of teaching.Through the analysis of the concept about task-based approach, including the types, characteristics, structure, forms, design structure, design principles, design standards of the task, according to the theory of task-based approach, and "English Curriculum Standards", combining the current English teaching status of primary school, through literature research, investigation and observation method, based on the improved Willis task form, confirmed that task-based approach can be applied to primary students to enhance students’English learning motivation and interests.
