The New National English Curriculum(2003,2011) divides English language teaching and learning into nine competence-based levels, which reflects organic transition between primary and secondary school English teaching, feature of development of the students’ English language competence. However, owing to the differences in teaching materials and methods, it is difficult for many new students of senior high school to adapt themselves to English teaching of senior high school. They find it hard to learn English well as before, even lose interest in English. Therefore, it is very significant for researchers and English teachers to find a way to deal the appropriate way to deal with this problem.With the methods of literature, questionnaire and interview, the study aims to investigate the situation of the transition between English teaching of the junior high school and senior high school, and put forward some practical suggestions to solve this problem. The subjects are 22 English teachers and 204 students from Grade one in Zhangzhou No.3 Middle School.Through the data analysis, the study shows the following results: the transition between English teaching of the junior high school and senior high school is not optimistic, including unnatural transition in teaching objective, teaching strategies and teaching materials. And there are many factors causing the problem, such as teaching policy,teachers and students. In addition, some relevant suggestions are put forward for teachers, students and competent departments of education to solve the unnatural transition between English teaching of the junior high school and senior high school.
