Lesson study is an education research activity, which is based on lessons, taking the lesson cases in reality teaching as research object, discussing and solving the difficulties and problems in education and teaching in order to obtain teaching design conforms to new curriculum concept with high quality. It fully integrates the practical teaching activities and teaching research, eliminating the estrangements between the theory and practice, and could effectively facilitate the professional development of teachers.In recent years, lesson study has been commonly carried out among middle schools, but not widely developed within masters of education in universities. As a teacher candidate to work in middle school, lesson study is an effective approach to enhance the teaching ability for a master of education. Our work aimed at studying the facilitation function of lesson study to masters of education, and emphasized at the willingness of masters of education to take part in lesson study, the difficulties confronted, the achievement obtained and how should the lesson study be launched through methods such as document analysis, classroom observation, video watching, questionnaire survey and interview et al. To study the problems put forward above, we conducted the several works below to do the research.1.Based on the research achievement domestic and overseas, we elucidated the history and the current development situation of lesson study. And we defined the concept of lesson study, distinguished it from its related conceptions, and analyzed the model of lesson study.2.We investigated the present lesson study situation among masters of education in universities such as Beijing Normal University, Capital Normal University, Central China Normal University, Liaoning Normal University, Nanjing Normal University and Henan Normal University. Throhgh investigation, we could see that most masters of education has realized the importance of lesson study. They have performed lesson study via variety of approaches, and obtain certain achievements. But the procedures always seem to be rash, and not deep enough. For those who haven’t took part in lesson study, they mainly attributed it to have little time or few chances. There may be a lot of pathways to carry out lesson study, but the best opportunity is teaching practice, and we should take lesson study as the main task of teaching practice.3.We took part in the lesson study of the affiliated high school of Henan Normal University for chemistry discipline, and discussed the typical cases. Further, the we and our fellow masters of education discussed, exchanged ideas and analyzed carefully about the lesson provided by the excellent graduates majored in chemistry from normal universities in Henan. Through practice research and interview, we found that if the masters of education would carry out lesson study with an excelsior attitude, they could not only exhibit their achievements in forms of high-quality lessons and thesis, also the research could facilitate their teaching ability.There are also many problems to be solved. For example, how should we work out the situation that many masters of education have no time for lesson study, what should be done to perform a more complete lesson study, and how to confirm a better lesson study regime which combines experts, front line teachers and masters of education. What’s the relationship between lesson study and the teaching practice activities among masters of education.For these problems, they still need to be deeply discussed in the subsequent researches, although we had accumulated some materials in this work..In summary, lesson study has significant education values. Masters of education who had participated in the activity would improve themselves, especially in the teaching and chemistry teaching design. And their cooperation consciousness, their research ability in science of education would also extend to certain degrees. Therefore, lesson study would be an effective way to promote the development of master degree of education.
