Student work of private higher vocational college is the important part of teaching affairs in private higher education. During nearly 30 years of development and after their positive explore, private higher vocational colleges have experience in student management. As a new force of education, private higher education makes up the shortage of financial investment in education and cultivates some skilled talents which are needed in the society. It also improves the development of higher education popularization. All these aspects show the contribution to private higher education. But in the long-term practice of management, I found that there still existed many problems in student management. It is not adapted to the need of development about society, education and student.According to the official statistics, the number of private higher vocational colleges in Guangzhou at present is 56.7% of the private higher vocational colleges in Guangdong Province. The study of student management in private higher vocational colleges in Guangzhou has certain representation and has certain realistic significance to other private higher vocational colleges in student management.The work of student management is a core of university management. The management of students must not only conform to the feature of private higher vocational college, but also conform to the feature of the new generation. The higher vocational college students of the new generation are independent, individual. They have jumping thinking and lack of self-control. But with the rapid development of economy today, the society needs talented people who are flexible, positive and all-rounded. How to cultivate the students adapt to the society is the important point of student management in private higher vocational college. Nowadays, the society pays more and more attention and expectation to private higher vocational college. And the satisfaction to the graduates shows the quality of college cultivation which directly influent the popularity and reputation of the private higher vocational college and the effect of admission. The new situations bring unprecedented challenges for private higher vocational college student work.Taking L Institute of Technology as a representation, I study on their current status of student management and provide some advice to the student administrators. I want to find out useful measures which are suitable for soft management in private higher vocational college. From the perspective of solving practical problems, this thesis mainly focus on the achievement of dynamic and soft management instead of mandatory management. It also focus on the implement of management about people-oriented and create a harmonious and healthy environment.This thesis mainly uses the methods of literature analysis, questionnaire and interview. By reading a number of literature, I know the content and characters of soft management and the outstanding problems and main thoughts of student management of higher vocational college in China. After learning from the study of other experts, I designed a set of questionnaire about management ideas, management methods, management system and management procedure. Then I made a research in L Institute of Technology. I sent out 300 paper questionnaires in the mid-term and recycled 282 pieces.276 effective questionnaires were collected. I used a term to interview 65 college leaders and teachers. By interviewing them, I can define the basic categories and objective. I can also find out the main problem and think how to implement the soft management.This thesis is talking about soft management in private higher vocational college which based on the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the people oriented theory and Mc Gregor’s X-Y theory. The main problems of student management are:First, neglect the need of students. It shows in the dominant of student haven’t effectively established, the ability of self-management haven’t fully cultivated and the right and freedom of student haven’t paid much attention. Second, lack of human concern in student management. Third, it is too rigid during the implementation of the management system. Fourth, ignore the intangible influence during the management process. The administrators neglect the influence and use of personality themselves. The students lack of influence of campus culture. According to these problems, this thesis will analyze the reasons about the restriction of traditional management, the specialty of private higher vocational college students and the low quality of administrators themselves.This thesis also discuss about the strategies of how to improve the soft management in private higher vocational college. First, carry out the idea of people-oriented. Second, establish the management mode of all-staff education. Third, strengthen the all-round democracy management awareness. Fourth, optimize the campus cultural environment. Fifth, improve the quality of student administrators themselves.
