Differences among individual sdutents received increasing attention from educators under current curriculum reform. Further study on the reading performance of young Chinese students are therefore required. There are many factors could impact the reading capability of students, among which, gender difference is obviously one of the most important factors.We therefore try to elucidate the interaction between student gender and their reading performances. We evaluate reading by taking into account of seven different aspects, including interests, motivation, reading quantity, content, way of reading,habits, and capability. Literature research, questionnaires and reading tests were performed accordingly. By study the gender difference in reading and its related causes, we hope to enrich the theoriotic system in teaching. We also provided new teaching strategy focused on gender differences that could contribute to the curriculum reform and may benefit students in their reading training.
