The meanings of broad "exercise" include both exercises and examples in the mathematics textbooks. But in this thesis, the "exercise" only means exercises in the mathematics textbooks. Exercise, as an integral part of textbooks, playing the important role of introduction, consolidate and use the new knowledge, improve the level of the students’knowledge and ability. What’s more, it can make an important influence on studying and teaching practice.Based on the New Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, this thesis takes primary school mathematics textbook as an example, deeply research the exercise in the Grade 5 and Grade 6 mathematics textbook. The thesis researches the exercise by construction of knowledge in the field, the level of intellectual development level and the level of knowledge in the field of development with thinking that the three-dimensional structure of the research framework. Three questions in the thesis are researched as follows:Question 1, to statistic analysis the "Number and Algebra" "Space and Figure" and "Statistics and Probability" three areas in primary school mathematics textbook. Question 2, study the overall objective of the second study mathematics section, in order to analyze the consistency of the Grade 5 and Grade 6 mathematics textbook exercises written. Question 3, to analyze the New Taxonomy of Educational Objectives whether can be used in research the mathematics textbook exercises.This thesis introduces the three-dimensional structure of the research framework, then statistic analysis the mathematics textbook excises of Grade 5 and Grade 6. At last, based on the statistic analysis, drawing the following four conclusions:In the elementary school higher grades mathematics textbook excises "Number and Algebra" "Space and Figure" "Statistics and Probability" three areas, the emphases of the knowledge development dimension and the thinking process dimension are different; Students’thinking process dimension is changing depend on the knowledge dimension; Written mathematics textbook exercises is not fully achieved the goal of mathematics in the second period total requirements. In the process of studying textbook exercises, it’s necessary to do some changes with the New Taxonomy Educational Objectives.On the basis of the above research conclusions, we put forward some suggestions. Appropriate reduce horizontal topic, increase the high level of cognitive subject; The mathematics textbook exercises set should increase proportion of the metacognitive system; The mathematics textbook exercises set should increase proportion of the self-system; In the mathematics textbook exercises research, it’s better to slightly simplify The New Taxonomy of Educational Objectives. By providing these writing recommendations and some examples, it could improve the compile of the primary school mathematics textbook exercises, to provide some feasible suggestions and methods for teachers using in the class.
