In this paper, based on a large number of literature studies, it is found that in our country the researches on geographical spatial ability is quite disperse, and there is no unified concept and classification in the academic field. From the perspective of research methods, the methods focus on questionnaire or test paper in the master and dissertation papers. On the basis of statistical analysis, the journals and literature are mostly drawn from teaching experiences. Considering research subjects, the development strategy of geographical spatial ability combines teachers and students, while there is only one which studies teachers or students. Therefore, the paper devotes to researching geographical spatial ability with the combination of teaching cases. By observing and analyzing, it discusses how to develop the students’ geographical spatial ability from the angle of teachers.Geographical spatial ability is one of the special abilities in geography, an important factor to learn geography well. In the Middle school stage, to develop the students’ ability in geography space is good for students to learn geography better and solve geographic problems. The paper does a systematic study on geography space thinking ability, which has certain theoretical significance. Whit the combination of theories on geography spatial ability and teaching cases, it explores how to cultivate such an ability, and provides teaching suggestions, which can be a reference and of practical significance.The research methods cover literature research, case analysis, observation, analysis and induction and so on.Through literature studies, it analyzes theoretical researches of geography scholars, and concludes the concept and classification of geographical space thinking ability. It gives a definition and classification including geographical spatial perception thinking ability, geographic spatial relations thinking ability, geographic space dynamic thinking ability, geographic space perspective transformation ability. It is preliminary to establish a theoretical system of geography space thinking ability.Under the frame of geographic space thinking ability, each kind of space thinking ability is combined with corresponding teaching cases. Based on case analysis, it analyzes and draws a question and three teaching suggestions that training the geographical spatial perception thinking ability should focus on, two questions and three teaching Suggestions that cultivating geographical space thinking ability should attend to, two questions and four teaching suggestions for dynamic thinking ability of geographical space relation, and two questions and teaching suggestions for developing geographical space perspective transformation ability.
