With the continuous reform of new curriculum and the education system in China, social competition is becoming increasingly fierce, the cultivation of students’ creativity become the requirements of the new curriculum standard. It is in pay attention to cultivating students’ innovation ability under the background of art education, once included in the compulsory education policy, has received the unprecedented attention, ushered in new opportunities for development, has entered an important period of development. With the pace of the reform of teaching art course is accelerated, the fine arts curriculum teaching to cultivate students’ innovative ability is more and more important. China’s social and economic development have also put new demands on the students’ innovation ability. Art education is the cultivation of the person with advantage be richly endowed by nature of the innovation ability in the subject, so the cultivation of students’ innovation ability in the course of teaching art in primary and secondary school is the inevitable requirement.In this paper, under the new curriculum training in primary and middle school fine arts teaching of middle school students’ innovative ability is the theme of discussion. Through the regional survey according to current situation of primary and secondary school art teaching to carry on the elaboration, first describes the present situation of investigation teaching art in primary and secondary schools, from the analysis of the implementation of the investigation and the questionnaire design, survey results of three aspects of the situation of the art curriculum in primary and secondary schools to provide data to support; on the basis of research, expounds the existing curriculum teaching art in primary and secondary school students problems, limitations and conservative, art teaching resources such as classroom teaching mode of arts learning autonomous inquiry ability and lack of.The third part: the methods of cultivating students’ innovative ability. From seven aspects, expounds the method of training students’ innovation ability of.
