Since entering the full-fledged development, the ever-deepening process of the professionalization of teachers has highlighted the irresistible trend of that of the class teachers. Against the backdrop of researches in that field becoming the hotspot in education circle, this dissertation,revolving around “ the current development of the professionalization of class teachers”, demonstrates both its theoretical and pragmatic values by looking at and digging into the current situation and existing problems of the professionalization of class teachers as well as analyzing what factors exert impacts on it and siding with the very significance of it.Five dimensions, professional concept, professional knowledge, professional capability, professional characters and professional self-improvement respectively, in this research have been employed to research the current situation of the professionalization of class teachers in primary schools.Questionnaires and in-depth interviews conducted in 6 primary schools in Changsha city have helped to reach the understanding that the professionalization of primary class teachers is right on the very early stage. When it comes to the professional concept, most class teachers, though agree with the importance of this position, do not choose it voluntarily because of a lackof enthusiasm and love in it; Still, most of them are in urgent need of enriching their knowledge of management, psychology,safety and health with regard to professional knowledge; it is also necessary for them to improve the competence for organizing and managing, conducting academic researches and innovating with respect to professional capability; a small part of class teachers is in obvious shortage of clear professional goals, moral and mindset as to professional characters; Problems, such as not offering pragmatic training,scientific forms of training or reasonable timetables, arise leading to the lack of reflection and awareness of self-improvement among class teachers. Extrinsic and intrinsic factors have been drawn from this current situation: intrinsic ones: 1. Class teachers are not in line with the professionalization; 2. Lack of inner working motivation; 3.Lack of the awareness of self-improvement. Extrinsic ones: 1.Lack of diversity in employment forms and evaluation system;2. Ineffective training; 3. Overloads; 4. Low income and welfare; 5. little importance attached to class teachers.Corresponding suggestions in order to enhance the professionalization of class teachers are: to begin with,increasing the awareness of class teachers’ self-improvement;secondly, optimizing the mechanisms and systems; thirdly,prioritizing its values.
