"Digital storytelling" is a new method of telling stories by using digital technology. This method was first put forward by an American named Dana Atchley in 1980 s, and later on, Professor Li Jiahou of Shanghai Normal University launched the training of digital storytelling in many schools across the country. Besides, some graduate students applied the method in teaching Mathematics, English, comprehensive practices etc., which become popular among teachers and students and received good teaching effects. This study analyzes the feasibility of applying digital storytelling in high school biology teaching, does research on the practice on combining digital storytelling with high school biology teaching, and summarizes the teaching experience and teaching strategies to get reflection and improvement.The studying methods adopted in this paper are literature research, case study, interviewing and action research. Combined with the concept of digital storytelling and the present studying situation both at home and abroad, this paper has pointed out the current problems exist in applying PPT in teaching, introduced the characteristics of digital storytelling which are different from that of courseware made by PPT, and compared the digital storytelling with micro lessons, briefly introduced the procedure of making digital storytelling, designed and studied the application of digital storytelling in high school biology teaching in detail, and listed and analyzed the teaching cases in three different applying fields.The important points of this paper are the third and fourth chapters, which mainly analyze the feasibility of applying digital storytelling in teaching as well as high school biology course, illustrate the design and process of implementation of applying digital storytelling in teaching, and analyzed and summarized the teaching cases.To test and verify the functions of digital storytelling in high school biology teaching practices, this research carried on interview on students of class 11 and 12, grade 3 of Xuzhou No.1 Middle School and the teachers attended the classes. Most of the teachers and students agreed that digital storytelling can not only be applied in teaching practices, but also be helpful in developing the students’ multiple intelligence, improving their innovation and cultivating their interest in learning.The innovation of this paper is to prove the feasibility of applying digital storytelling in high school biology teaching practices. It combines the digital storytelling with the teaching reform of the author’s school, explores the fields where digital storytelling can be adopted in high school biology teaching and the contents, and provides a brand new method and strategy for how to use the digital storytelling in high school biology teaching practices.
