New Poetry enters into the courses of middle school by its unique aesthetics and artistry. It has high educational and aesthetic value, which is same with Classical Poetry. However, although New poetry has more freedom in the content and expression, it hasn’t went into students’ mind. The younger generation is gradually losing interest in New Poetry. In the meanwhile, it is a pity that some teachers ignore the features and aesthetic characters of the New Poetry in the teaching process. In a word, as teachers,we should lead the students go back to the poetry’s reading, feeling the arts beauty of poetry.Firstly, this article will define the concept of New Poetry, analyze the characteristics New poetry, and point out that New poetry exists as a unique literary genre. It has its own unique aesthetics and artistry. Moreover, we are going to define "The Poetry Reading" and explore the "poetic ways of reading."Secondly, this article points out that the teaching of New Poetry is not optimistic in the current middle school. Some middle school students complain that they are confused to read Poetry and have no interest in it and even reject it. Affected by the impact of The College Entrance Examination, schools’ leaders and teachers generally think little of teaching New Poetry. What’s worse, the lack of teachers’ quality, bad teaching methods, much attention to qualitative reading, and too much emphasis on the idea of digging lead poetry teaching to an awkward position. Since Poetic ways of reading can not be implemented, our country faces enormous challenges in Poetry teaching. Based on the analysis of the current situation and the reasons, this article is to explain the value of new poetry teaching.Thirdly, put forward the necessity of reading poetry. Reading New Poetry in poetic ways is the requirements of poetry appreciation.It can strengthen students’ love to New Poetry and can inspire students’ desire for a wonderful life.Finally, we discuss the teaching strategies of returning to The Poetry Reading in New Poetry: base on reading, enhance perceptions; explore painting, stimulate the imagination; create situations, and comprehend emotions. I hope to provide a useful reference for Poetry teaching and to improve teaching efficiency in order to hold poetic region.
