Big data has a close relation with the internet, so its application rises with the widespread of the internet. According to the specialists, since 2010, social data presents an index increasing process. Till 2013, the data quantity has surpassed 4 trillionGB,and the annual data increase rate is accelerating. The concept change from "data" to "big data" is relative. The "big" in "big data" is produced by the data increase rate and quantity accumulation. In the process of data quantity change, people gradually realized its influence and value in all aspects in the society. In the process of higher education development, data has come along, and with the informatization process involved in higher education, big data naturally appeared. The technology reform would certainly lead to social reform. People hope big data be of revolutionary influence on the innovation and development of higher education, increase the quality and provides strong support for the popularizing and individuation of higher education. As the production of higher education, big data mainly comes from two parts:the first part is data about things, the second part is data about people. They connect with each other to push the advancement of higher education. Based upon this, the paper did some relatively systematic research on the advancement of higher education through big data.Part 1. As the basis part of the paper, the main content includes the proposal of the question, research significance, key concept definition, research aim and content, research outline, methods and literature review.Part 2. On the basis of recognizing the big data and its development process, the paper studies the relation mechanism between big data and higher education. At the same time, the paper defines the definition and joint of the combination of big data and higher education. The paper tries to conclude the advancement of higher education by big data from four basic functions:personnel training, scientific development, social service and culture innovation. In addition, based on this, this paper will introspect on the new challenges and problems coming along.Part 3. It analyzes the new challenge that confronts in the advancement of higher education by big data. Also, it probes into the big data and higher education how to get rid of the containment in the course of the adjustment and advancement. By analyzing, it traces the the the reasons of rising the bottleneck. That is, the higher education can not understand well the big data, higher education can not take advantage of the big data technology, the current data technology has it own containment and the higher education can not research and extend the big data well.Part 4. In accordance with the reason the rising in the course of advancement of higher education by big data, it probes into strategies to process the higher education through big data. First of all, it should eliminate the prejudice against big data to ensure the full understanding of big data. Secondly, it should set up an effective platform to give full play to the role of big data. Thirdly, it optimizes the allocation of resources in the higher education to rise using ration. Last, we should pay attention to cultivate the technological personnel of big data to improve the data quality of service. Through the above measures, we can break containment between big data and higher education to form a resultant force and also assure big data can sustain to play strong impetus role in higher education and thus to promote the depth of the fusion and common development.
