A Study On The Present Tibetan Nomadism In Maqu

Maqu is located at the junction area of Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan, which owns one of the best pastures in Asia, belongs to the typical nomadic economy. In the 1990s, the Grassland Management System has been implemented in Maqu. At the beginning of twenty-first Century, large-scale Nomads Settlement Project came into effect in Maqu. These policies have changed the lifestyle of the herders. This paper with the domestic and foreign research results, will analysis the nomadism history of Maqu, provides more perspective and direction for the readers to understand the historic development of nomadism, to know the beginning, the development, and the change of nomadism. The author has investigated four nomads settlement in Maqu, and will introduce the basic condition of these four settlements, in order to know the situation and to analysis the problems in this situation. Through the field investigation, we can find how much effectiveness has accomplished with the Grassland Management System and the Nomads Settlement Project in Maqu, so we should think the deep connotation of the change of life style, and think about where nomadic culture will go on.
