With the development of Economic Globalization, English has became the International language. In this case, Education Department has set English as one of the compulsory courses in school, which fosters many English talents for society. They make a great contribution for international communication. The 21 th is fill up with chance and challenge, education and talents are the core of China. If we want to raise professional English talents, we must pay more attention to English teachers’ professional development. English teachers professional development has been the hot topic now, foreign countries have done a lot researches about it.some Areas in Economic Prosperous Regions have followed the fashion, but some poor regions miss it.This thesis aims to look into the English teachers’ professional development of senior high school in Hong Hu area. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the level of economic development of Honghu county high school English teachers’ professional development, compared with the whole jingzhou city, English teaching level is backward and the scores of college entrance examination overall ranking is low. On the basis of related research as well as the city’s 30 English teachers,100 high school students questionnaire, interview, the basic information of respondents, consciousness and action of professional development, student ideal teacher, student’s impression of English teacher in class,she has found, English teachers’ professional development in the county exits the following questions: 1) Teachers’ English professional knowledge and the skill are weak as well as lack of systematic learning. 2) Teachers’ awareness of self professional development is not high. 3) Teachers’ stress. Appearance of the major causes of these phenomena not only from society, school but also from the administrative department of education. By means of question and interview, we analyze the current situation, problems and challenge with the senior English teachers’ professional development. After analyzing the natural reasons which hinder teachers’ professional development. I will make conclusion and give some suggestions.The thesis’ s exploratory analysis is basis on authenticity data about the current situation. By this survey, I hope to arouse the attention of education workers in Honghu, let them realize the importance of English teachers professional development and thousands of students’ future development. Last but not least, I hope to use own my power to change the situation as well as push myself professional develop.
