Objectives:The research focuses on normal college students, which aims to find a normal range of function and architecture by analyzing the functional and architecture change of erector spinae(ES) with two methods, sEMG and ultrasound.Method:60 college students(20-24 years old), without low back pain who are from Beijing Sport University are tested by ultrasound and sEMG. The participants are divided into 2 male groups(male sport group and male non-sport group), and 1 female group(female non-sport group). The participants are positioned in BST back muscle chair, the loads are respectively:rest, MVC.and 20%MVC,40%MVC,60%MVC,80%MVC, the duration of each load level is 5 seconds. The ultrasound device is GE vivid 7 colorful, with ultrasound probe in L5;sEMG tests L3-4 along with the vertical direction asES.Result:In terms of the ultrasound, thickness in the left ES of male sport group and both sides of male non-sport group owns significant difference between different intensities (P is 0.022,0.030.0.025 respectively).Thickness in the right ES of male sport group is close to have significant difference between different intensities. Cross-sectional area in all groups don’t have significant difference between different intensities. In terms of electromyographical functions, all EMG increases lineally as intensities increases from 20%、40%、60%、80%、MVC, and the rising rate is higher in the moderate-maximal intensities(60%、80%). EMG in all three groups (Male sport group, male non-sport group, and female non-sport group) has significant difference between different intensities.Conclusion:1. The ultrasound data(thickness & cross-sectional area) has no significant difference in the same age group and same sex group, meanwhile their sensibility to the increase of intensity is fairly low.2.The electromyographical data assesses ES musculoskeletal functions contently.3.The application of Ultrasound should be cautious, which needs high-skilled operators and strict methods to control the musculoskeletal contraction.
