Higher vocational education is a kind of higher education and it is also an important part of higher education. With the rapid development of the higher vocational education, it has become the "half" of higher education in our country. An example in point concerns the fact that the number of annual recruiting students and the annual number of graduates are higher than those of the undergraduate schools. But many problems concerning the development of higher vocational colleges appear such as unbalance and low level development. To solve present problems, China has launched a key national construction project of vocational colleges. By means of constructing about 100 backbone higher vocational colleges, this project aims at promoting the development of higher vocational colleges and improving the higher vocational colleges’schooling capacity and overall competence. This paper selects the first 39 backbone higher vocational colleges as the research objects and builds the input-output statistical analysis through collecting these colleges’input and output data. Then through canonical correlation analysis, factor analysis and regression analysis methods, the relationship and the interaction between input and output of these 39 backbone higher vocational colleges will be analyzed, determining the influence of education input on the output. At last, results can be obtained from the analysis that teaching equipments and places, regional differences, funds and donations have positive relations with the overall education output. That is to say, these three input factors exert the largest influence on and make the greatest influence to the educational output. At the same time, researchers have found that education input variables don’t have a clear relation with the new leaders, science and technology professional services to the amounts, the number of counterpart support and training for vocational colleges teachers and students. Namely, the impact of education investments on the education output is not obvious and this also reflects the problems such as the weak faculty in higher vocational colleges, the weak scientific research and technical service ability and radiation problems such as weak leading roles. All in all, the conclusions drawn from this research not only can offer valuable guides to the construction of the next two batches of the key national construction project of vocational colleges, but also can provide experience for the construction of other higher vocational colleges, improving the effects of key national construction project of vocational colleges and the overall competence and levels of higher vocational colleges.
