Abstract/Summary:
Electronic schoolbag is a product of emerging technology applying in the field of education, it is a combination of device, content and services. It can reduce students’ burden effectively, and it attracts more and more attention of scholars.In recent years, with the appearance and improvement of extended mind, perception on ‘relationship between learning tools and mind’ changed dramatically. Extended mind, proposed by Clark and Chalmers, redefines cognitive boundary, trying to revise the unscientific in traditional cognitive theory. In the view of extended mind, parts of the brain function are unloaded to the outside world because of the use of learning tools. As a result, electronic schoolbag and learners may have a novel relationship, the boundary of mind is extended to outside space.In this paper, we discussed the conception of electronic schoolbag and extended mind in detail, and by electronic schoolbag, we want to explain the forming and occurrence of extended cognitive systems. In order to explain the rationality, we list several principles such as ‘couple constitute principle’ and ‘parity principle’. Besides, we made a specific teaching experiment, review and revise the relative theory of extended mind.By analyzing the operation of electronic schoolbag in extended mind, we aim to provide a solid theoretical foundation for the popularity of electronic schoolbag, besides, present a deeper meaning for educational technology in education teaching.
