As a new economic form, knowledge economy is booming, knowledge and technology represent the future direction of development, it means that the emphasis on education is increasing. With the deepening of the reform of basic education development, the geography teachers are required to be more specialty, in the front line of teaching, not only should geography teachers’ possess traditional professional qualities, but also need to develop their educational research ability. Therefore, a exploration on how junior teacher carries out educational research has been launched in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province, the study also analyzed the main problems of the junior high school geography teacher encountered when they carried out the educational research, and then put forward some corresponding measures, the study is full of feasibility and necessity.In this paper, the first part is the research background and significance. Mainly elaborated the research status at home and abroad, about teachers’ educational research. Then puts forward to the significance and methods of this investigation.The second part is the theoretical basis of this study. In this part, the definition and the structural elements of the educational research have been clarified. This paper also introduces the geographic educational research’s definition, research object and content system.At last, it explores the structure of the quality and ability that teachers should possess when they carried out the educational research.The third part is the survey and analysis about the status of junior geography teachers’ educational research. This paper introduces the design and implementation of the questionnaire and interview survey, and analyzes the survey results to a certain extent, after the statistical analysis.The fourth part points out some main problems of teachers’ when they carry out the educational research, in concrete, the problem can be divided into subjective and objective aspect.The fifth part is puts forward some advices to solve some main existing problems that teachers will meet with as they carried out the educational research.The sixth part is the conclusion. Ideas, innovations and shortcomings of this paper have been summarized, and then it points out the direction of how improvements should be made in the future.
