School culture is the soul of the school education; it is a variety of practical activities in school and the spiritual wealth. This created a culture atmosphere and students living environment as a whole. As a subsystem of the whole social and cultural background, school culture is composed of symbols which can reflect the beliefs and values of the school. When these symbols have a certain aesthetic and reach a certain level, it will produce some particular artistry. The artistry is centralized reflect and embody school culture, and it organic combine many cultural factors of the school as a whole.The study,based on semi logy,divides the school culture into three systems which are surface symbol layer system,middle symbol layer system and deep layer symbol system, then describing the artistry of school culture through analyzing the art of these three symbol systems. In this study, literature analysis, field survey to collect information related to the school culture artistry; with cultural stratification to analyze the reasons for the artistic status quo of three symbol system of school culture.The study found that the primary school in the artistry expression of school culture, the use of surface symbol system lack of artistic vivid, typicality and pleasure; The middle layer symbol system did not reflect the artistic establishment timeliness, operability and infectious; Deep sign system emphasized on utilitarian trait, did not reflect the artistic truthfulness, sincerity and perfect. The main reason is that schools in the school culture of the three symbol system of artistic quality, pay attention to the external performance, no in-depth understanding of its connotation and essence. In addition, the degree of cognition on the function of school culture is shallow. And the construction of school culture in the utilitarian pursuit leads to formalism flooding. In order to solve the above problem and enhance the art of primary school campus culture, the study put forward there three recommendations. First, schools should thoroughly understand the implications of the campus culture and artistic manifestations. Second, Schools should good to play the role of campus culture nurtured and infection symbol system. Finally, Schools should focus on campus reflects the cultural artistic super utilitarian.This research is a case study, mainly find out the reasons of the status quo of school culture artistry. It does not provide a general nature conclusions, some issues need to be further explored.
