| Teaching composition is not only one of the most important parts of the Chinese courses, but it also reflects the overall comprehensive capabilities of the Chinese language. However, the composition teaching has been the hardest part of language teaching. Teachers worry about how to teach it while students worry about how to write it, which has became a major issue puzzling both teachers and students for a long time. This study aims to explore how to improve the current situation of teaching Chinese composition in primary school with the guidance of the “student-based†theory.The first chapter explains the concept of the “student-based†theory and clarify the significance of teaching composition in primary school under the guidance of it.The second chapter summarizes the outstanding problems existing in the teaching and analyzed the causes of the problems by means of investigation and discussion. The students don’t play the main roles in composition class. Both teachers and students have the wrong ideas about writing compositions. Attention isn’t paid to any other factors but intelligence. Teaching composition doesn’t start from the reality of students. The assessment of composition only comes from teachers or adults.The third chapter makes several suggestions to improve the Chinese composition teaching strategies in primary school. First, be concerned about the main roles of students in composition class. Second, respect students’ individuality and encourage them to express themselves freely. Third, change the ways of evaluation of the students’ essay. Fourth, develop the students’ good writing habits.In a word, the primary composition teaching under the guidance of the “student-based†theory is not only the trend of education reform and development, but also a recipe to change the status of teaching writing in primary school. |
