With the rapid development of the urbanization and industrialization, the number of urban empty nesters are constantly growing, the empty nest families are continue emerging. As one of the social vulnerable groups, they have faced "double crisis" in physical and spiritual,the ability to access community resources and social support continue to weaken. On the one hand,empty nesters’ growing age lead to their physical body and the immune system continue to deteriorate.In case of emergency, their have a serious shortage of crisis response capability and risk-enduring abilities.The insomnia,loss of appetite,fatigue and other physiological problems are constantly emerging when their health is seriously threatened; On the another hand, due to long-time empty nest,they have inevitably had the loneliness,depression,apathy,listlessness and other psychological crisis problems with the lack of the spiritual love and emotional support from their children and relatives, it has seriously affected the urban empty nesters’ quality of life and confidence.It is important to note that the two parts are not unrelated and independent, both sides will affect and transform each other. On the one hand, physical discomforts will make the empty nester have depression and mental crisis;on the other hand, psychological problems will make the urban empty nester’s health worsened. Therefore, exploring scientific and rational way actively to restore the health of urban empty nester group is important measures related to people’s livelihood and the construction of harmonious society,which is also an important safeguard to dissolve the "double crisis". To achieve this goal, it requires the common concerns and continuous efforts from social work organizations and people from all walks of life.The survey studies are taken in Xi’an Lianhu District. Through the field interviews and positive interventions to further define the spiritual plight and service demands of urban empty nesters. Firstly, the paper defines the concepts of urban empty nesters and clarifies the characteristics and development trend of psychological problems in this group. Secondly,the necessity and feasibility of research on the intervention of social work towards the urban empty nesters’ mental problems are discussed,and to clear the necessity and urgency for the conduct of intervention. Followed by casework intervention, the paper has an in-depth analysis of cause and assess the demands to gradually solve the physical and mental problems. Finally, the paper puts forward countermeasures, and wish it could help alleviate the "empty nest syndrome" of urban empty-nesters groups and spend the remaining years in comfort through the intervention of social works and project services.In this paper, it focused on the empty nesters’ psychological problems,integrated multi-powers and carried out active intervention, providing whatever assistance the urban empty nesters group. I hope it can provide experience sharing and theoretical support for future research through the study of empty-nesters psychological problems.
