With scientific research and innovation becoming the driving force of our time, universities, as the think tank of society, have taken an huge responsibility. At the same time, with the trend of social development, organization tend to pay more attention to their basic levels. As the basic level of university, academic-teams undertake the task of education, scientific research and social service, the major function of the university. Now they are receiving more and more attention from the society. As humanist has become a basic value of our time, we should temporarily forget the abstract theoretical models and boring numbers, build a real life picture of the academic-teams, deeply interpreting the academic-teams from the perspective of organizational culture. In this dissertation, I choose fieldwork and case study as the research methods, an outstanding academic-team from a technological university of Nanjing as the research object, and the culture of this academic-team as the research content. I use Schein’s culture theory in my culture assessment about this academic-team. I start the assessment from "artifact", the visible culture level. Through accurate observation and detailed investigation, I gradually find the espoused values behind the visible culture level, then I read into the basic assumptions and values of the team, trying to find the root of this culture. My research lead me to several conclusions about the basic assumptions and values of this academic-team:practice and debate, not seniority or authority, can lead us to the truth; indolence and the need of fun are the nature of the youth, which means strict rules and institutions are necessary in the academic-team; long time can be divided into many short parts, which means long-term plans should be divided into short-term plans and become more easily to fulfill; the importance of space and distance should be considered, so team members shoud think independently and stay closely; collectivism is effective in teamwork, so academic-teams should build a "family culture".After the culture assessment, based on the case above, I try to make suggestions about the culture construction from the perspective of the leaders of the academic-team:first, they should build necessary characters to become more qualified leaders; then they need to make self-examination and correct their own basic assumptions and values; at last, they must impart their personal assumptions and values to the team members and root them in the team in appropriate ways. Then they can complete the organizational culture construction.
