Teachers play the most important role in teaching activities in the school, so theirenthusiasm for work is directly related to the development of schools and students. As aresult, research articles on improving teaching enthusiasm keep increasing in recentyears. In this paper teachers’ needs are firstly studied, then the relationship between thesatisfaction of teachers’ needs and their enthusiasm for teaching reform is analyzed,which provides basis for improving teaching reform enthusiasm of teachers.In this study, based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, the teachers’ needs aredivided into physiological needs, safety needs, belonging and love needs, esteem needsand self-actualization needs. The teaching reform enthusiasm refers to a teacher’sinitiative and tendentiousness in introspecting his/her teaching, updating teachingphilosophy, and using new methods to improve the quality according to the changes inteaching situations and requirements.The relevant literature suggests the research situation on teachers’ needs and theirenthusiasm. Through the questionnaire survey method and interview method, this studyhas explored the present states of the satisfaction of teachers’needs and teaching reformenthusiasm in D district of Wuhan and whether exist differences in demographicvariables between them or not. In detail, the relationship between these two is discussedand their interaction mechanism is investigated. Based on these findings, by comparingthe difference in scores and analyzing the interviews, the following conclusions areobtained:1. The satisfaction of needs and teaching enthusiasm of teachers in D district areoverall on the medium level. Teachers from different groups have different situations onthese two subjects.2. In the various population eigenvalues, both the satisfaction of teachers’ needsand teachers’ teaching reform initiative have no significant difference in gender. Thedifferences are mainly reflected in the title, age and administrative position, and so on.Therefore, in the process of motivating teachers’ enthusiasm, fully taking the impact of these factors into consideration can make the incentive measures and incentivemechanism targeted.3. Teachers’ teaching reform initiative has no significant correlation with thesatisfaction of teachers’ physiological needs, but having prominent correlation withother dimensions of teachers’needs, which is a positive correlation.4. The satisfaction of self-actualization needs, esteem needs and belonging needscan predict46.6%of the variances of teaching reform enthusiasm. Therefore,it’sessential to take these items into account in the process of motivating teachers.Finally, the relevant measures to improve teachers’ teaching reform initiative havebeen taken into account and different proposals on the universality and diversity ofteachers’need also have been put forward.
