Lack of respect is a common phenomenon in China today, which has drawn greatattention of the party and the government as well as the whole society. Having beenpaying attention to this social phenomenon for a long time, the author believed thateducating college students’“respect for others” has important theoretical and practicalsignificance, and moral education of college students is an urgent actual demand.“Respectfor others” as an important part of the moral education should be attached to moreimportance. Therefore, based on previous studies, the author carried out the study on thistopic.This thesis discusses the connotation of “respect for others”. On the basis of previousstudies, the thesis defines the concept of “respect for others” and points out that “respectfor others” mainly refers to recognizing others, complying with others, giving positiveevaluation and conducting the proper behavior to others. The author classifies “respect forothers" into several basic types: respect others with recognition, respect others withevaluation, respect others with politeness, respect others with understanding; Also, thethesis demonstrated that "respect for others" is not only an important part of morality, butalso should be the important moral principles advocated in the whole society.This thesis investigates the current status of "respect for others". The author thinksthat along with the development of social economy and education, college students’awareness of respecting others is improving. But there still exists the moral anomie of notrespecting others. There are two reasons responsible for this, one is the lack of "respect"advocacy in the society, and the other is the lack of respect education in universities.This thesis explores the theory and practice of educating college students’"respectfor others" and it is committed to construct a value system of educating "respect forothers" for college students. The author holds that the most important value orientation of “respect for others " is respecting the rights and interests of others; explores the basicprinciples of educating college students’"respect for others". and holds that it is needed tocarry out not only rational education according to the development characteristics ofcollege students but also emotional education according to the emotion characteristics of"respecting others"; clarifies exactly how should college students practice " respect forothers " from three basic perspectives: etiquette, morality and law.
