The development of higher vocational education has always attaches great importance tothe professional, highlight of its higher characteristic is insufficient, and higher character ofvocational education mainly performance as academic development. Higher vocationaleducation has entered the development of connotation stage, whether it is quality of highervocational education itself, the sustainable development in higher vocational colleges, highervocational students, and teachers’ comprehensive development and economic enterprise andthe update of the new technology application are put forward for higher vocational colleges tocarry out the common needs of academic work.Based on the analysis and investigation of a higher vocational college S combined withliterature research, the academic development present situation, problems and reasons of thehigher vocational colleges are analyzed. Academic development in higher vocational colleges,due to the traditional academic view, the influence of education and its development history,combined with the current higher vocational colleges to the academic development ofresource allocation is not reasonable, academic position is not clear causes the academicdevelopment of higher vocational colleges exist the following problems: Less academicactivities and the form is single, academic achievement quality is not high, lack of effectivemanagement mechanism, etc. Based on character and function of vocational education, thehistory and the development direction of higher vocational education, the advantages anddisadvantages of academic development in higher vocational colleges,through those differentfactors of higher vocational colleges the academic orientation is from higher vocationaleducation professional as a starting point, to promote the comprehensive development ofhigher vocational students and teachers as the purpose, attaches great importance to the highervocational education in the higher character, openness, skills, etc., the main academicdevelopment in higher vocational colleges teaching, application of academic and even explore,promote the integration of academic development and professional development, and theacademic in higher vocational colleges should be in higher vocational education of all partiesinvolved in the main body will occupy the important position in their heart.This paper from academic position and status quo of higher vocational colleges as a start,use the academic ecological view of Boyer, positioning theory, rational choice theory andperson’s full scale development theory as the instruction, from the experience of other research for higher vocational colleges put forward the thinking and countermeasures topromote the development of its academic: academic development of higher vocationalcolleges should adhere to the scientific outlook on development, follow the law ofdevelopment of higher vocational education and the guidance of value and the socialeconomy closely linked; To change the ideological understanding, rich academic activities,enhancing university-enterprise cooperation, rational allocation of resources, improve theacademic management mechanism, etc.; The innovation of this study is from the level ofmacro research academic orientation in higher vocational colleges, and vocational colleges asthe object to put forward the thoughts and countermeasures to promote the development of itsacademic. This paper can provide the beneficial reference to promote the sustainabledevelopment of higher vocational colleges, improve the quality of higher vocationaleducation.
