| With the guidance of teachers and active participation of students, according to the teaching plan andteaching programme, aerobics teaching aims to impart related systemic knowledge and skills to studentsand improve their health and physical fitness. As one of the most important part of Physical Education incolleges and universities, it is well received by the students.Through methods of literature reading, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics, the authorchoose16teachers and500students from Henan Polytechnic University as survey respondents toinvestigate the current situation of aerobics option course teaching, including the teachers, students, theteaching contents, methods and evaluation. The object of this paper is to clarify the teaching contents andmethods of aerobics selective course, emphasize its important function in quality-oriented education, findout those factors affecting its development and put forward the corresponding suggestions. All of these canserve as valuable basis for the reform of aerobics selective course in Henan Polytechnic University.Through detailed research, the author finds that there are some problems existing in the aerobicsselective course in Henan Polytechnic University, such as:(1) The leaders’ degree of attention on aerobicsoption course is not enough.(2) there is only a small proportion of those aerobics teachers are originallyspecialized in aerobics and most of them have no chance to receive timely learning and training.(3) Theteaching contents is boring. In the practical teaching, great efforts have been poured into the study of themass aerobics exercise routines on a standard scale, which is lack of guidance of teaching theories andpractical values.(4) With the absolute evaluating methods, the evaluation system of students’ marks has notbeen well-established. Most of the systems emphasize the teachers’ personal assessment and neglect thestudents’ self-assessment and the evaluation of each other the students themselves.(5) The ordinaryuniversity sports venues, equipment cannot meet the needs of aerobics teaching and most of them are toosimple and rough to meet the students’ needs. Concerning the existing issues, we have below suggestions.(1)To establish a sound evaluation system for university aerobics teaching and form a supervisionmechanism so as to facilitate aerobics elective courses.(2) To hold aerobics contests on a regular basis inorder to stimulate students’ interest in learning aerobics.(3) To beef up investment in equipment and sports yard and guarantee the smooth implementation of aerobics program.(4) To strengthen efforts in recruitingexcellent teachers from the whole society and gradually improve the whole university faculty in aerobics. |
