Turpan Oasis is a typical representative of the natural environment and agricultural oasisof civilization in Western region. Since Turpan was born, it has been raising the peoples livingin this land for thousands of years, and people here are not fear of wind, high temperaturesand drought, creating long civilization and livable life from generation to generation, andTurpan Oasis Ecology system is the basis for the survival and development of local humansociety. However, since the1970s as people being blind pursuit of economic interests,over-exploitation of land resources and groundwater resources, coupled with water glacierarea retreating affected by climate change, and lack of supply water in water downstream,which has led to a series of issues such as nearly60%of the Karez being dry, Ai Ding Lakearea being atrophy... and other issues. This fully shows that the trend of ecologicaldeterioration in Oasis. It has been a very urgent and real problem that how to change thestatus quo and to cope with the conflict between social and ecological systems, makinghuman societies and ecosystems adapted each other, and achieving coexistence of humansocial systems and ecosystems. In this paper, we select Turpan city as the research target,based on the theory of sustainable development and Luhmann’s social systems theory as theguiding ideology, then we use the system dynamics, from holistic, systemic perspective toresearch the interaction and feedback mechanism of social and ecological subsystemscombined quantitative and qualitative research in Turpan Oasis, making dynamic simulationmodel of social~ecological system in Turpan oasis to provide scientific basis andrecommendations for optimizing, controlling, and regulating the relationship between humanand nature. The main findings are as follows:1. Look at problems with the systematic point ofview, and link the social systems and ecosystems, considering that both form a complexsystem owning complexed internal structure, many elements and the various elementspromoting and restricting each other, and research the coordinated development ofsociety-ecosystem from the whole.2. In this paper, we adopt qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis methodscombined and Luhmann’s social theory, the theory of sustainable development, human andnature coupled systems theory as a guide to explore the society-ecosystem dynamic evolution and characteristics in Turpan, in this basis, we construct socia-ecological couplingsystem model of Turpan city with the system dynamics.3. In this paper, we do simulation analysis on the coordinated development ofsocial-ecosystem in Turpan City. And the results show that advanced social development andecological protection does not meet the requirements of sustainable development in Turpancity.4. Finally, through simulation of the Turpan social-ecological coupling system, andanalyze the simulation results effectiveness, then put forward the best model and strategy ofTurpan city social-ecosystems coupling and sustainable development system conducively.Turpan city should be "development" rather than "growth" concept to the development ofsociety, and adopt scientific approach to control ecological damage.
