In China, grandparenting (taking care of babies or children by grandparent(s)) or participation of grandparent(s) in taking care of babies or children has become a phenomenon that is more and more common in the society, while the change of family structure also changes people’s living styles in an unprecedented way. More and more children are taken care of by grandparent(s), in stead of parent(s), and this change also exerts a subtle influence on the physical and mental development of the children. Due to small age and poor ability to make decision on their own, what kind of activities they are engaged in depends more on the caretaker’s will and decision. Therefore, the change of family structure is much likely to having influence on their participation in sports.By means of literature review, questionnaire survey, scene stimulation, observation, experimentation and mathematical statistics etc., the study herein is made on the difference of the grandparented children and non-grandparented children (3-6years’old) in respect of their participation in sports, and also on the positive influence of the sports games on the grandparented children in respect of their participation in sports. It is shown that’the participation in sports of the children, grandparented or non-grandparented, develops at the same age period:there is no participation in sports at the age of3to5, while the participation in sports increases obviously at the age of5to6. The participation in sports of the grandparented children is remarkably less than that of non-grantparented children, and this phenomenon is applicable to the children at the age of3to6with no difference, i.e. the participation in sports of grandparented children in higher, middle and lower classes of kindergarten is less than that of non-grandparented children. Through the intervention of sports games, the participation in sports of the grandparented children at the age of3to6increases obviously than before. However, to be specific, after the intervention of sports games, the participation in sports of the grandparented children in higher and lower classes of kindergarten is better than or equal to that of the non-grandparented children at the same age, while the participation in sports of the grandparented children in middle classes of the kindergarten becomes better than the original level, but still falls behind than the non-grantparented children at the same age.Based on the difference of grandparented children and non-grandparented children in participation in sports and the actual influence of the sports games, the study herein intends to develop the participation in sports of the grandparented children through the intervention of sports games, and the following suggestions are concluded on the basis of process and results of the study:first, the grandparents-children sports programs should be developed actively in the kindergarten, including the grandparents-children sports programs in both community and kindergarten, in order to let the grandparents know the importance of the sports games and how to play the sports games; second, proper forms of sports games shall be combined into the normal sports activities of the children, meanwhile, teachers shall praise and encourage the children in the sports games, and pay attention to the control of education methods, load and difficulty; third, family sports games shall be developed actively, and the competition between the grandparented families and non-grandparented families shall be organized on the basis of mutual help, in order to make the grandparented families familiar with the atmosphere of sports games, and to help the grandparents get to know more about the details and methods of the multi-family sports games. |
