At present, China has entered the stage of development of a rapidly aging popula tion and the situation of aging speed of population is grim.In the meantime, with transform ations of family structure, the empty-nest aged family has become more and more popular. We attributed this to the execution of the one child policy, the development of our socialis t market economy and the corresponding transformation of citizen’s value.Based on the6th national population census data, experts speculated that there would be an increase i n emptynest families (old people living without their children) in the next few years. There is no doubt that empty-nesters deserve more urgent attention due to special structure o ffamily, their physical and mental health, their life care need and dependency on social net work resources.New figures show that rural empty nest elderly accounted for over seve nty percent of the number of empty nest elderly people around the country. What’s mo re, The individual social capital of empty-nesters could explain disparities in life satis faction. Therefore, studing the life of the rural empty-nesters status quo with the life sa tisfaction as the breakthrough point is not only the objective demand to improve the q uality of the elderly life, but also the proper meaning of the the harmonious society. This case study in W Town, Qingdao City, used the questionnaire to collect data. In addition, established a database and analyze by statistical analysis software SPSS16. O.On the basis of descriptives analysis of current situation of the rural empty-nesters life satisfaction and the individual social capital, researcher used the multivariate logis tic regression analysis and path to analyze the Individual social capital factors affectin g the elderly life satisfaction.Research results show that individual social networks in which kinship is the mai n elements of rural empty-nesters are small-scale. The network members have high ge netic heterogeneity in some ways, such as Age, occupation, education leveland so on.T he unilateral satisfaction of the health status, economy, intergenerational care is also rel atively high, but the living environment and social participation degree of satisfaction ar e relatively low. The number of network members, the scale of member relationship, pol itical heterogeneity and the satisfaction of health status, intergenerational care, living en vironment have a direct effect on the overall life satisfaction. The occupational heteroge neity, age similarity, gender similarity and the proportion of close relationship effect the overall life satisfaction indirectly. Therefore,we should promote the establishment of community endowment to make up the inadequacy of family pension. What’s more,we will improve work in commu nities to strengthen their networks of services and management and set up the commu nity cultural center in order to provide favorable conditions for empty-nesters’ positive social interaction. In addition, establish the elderly organizations beneficial to the health of their body and the mind and the aged would acquire social opportunities that pro vide a lot of emotional support.More importantly than all of that, the elderly could ga in the sense of fulfillment by taking part in these activities.
