With the continuous deepening of curriculum reform, teacher training hasbecome a significant part of strengthening the construction of teaching staff, improvingteachers’ professional level, ensuring the smooth implementation of curriculum reformand improving teaching quality. Because of the great changes of junior middle schoolgeography discipline on curriculum standards, textbook contents, teaching methods andso on, the professional development of geography teachers is faced with seriouschallenges. However, the unbalance among different regions, schools and the level ofgeography teachers’ self-development has led to the unevenness of teacher trainingquality, and thus a matched scientific and flexible evaluation system is neededdesperately. Nevertheless, the evaluation system of geography teacher training isdeficient at present, lacking in scientific, feasible and effective evaluation program toexamine the effectiveness of training. As a result, it is of particular significance toconstruct an evaluation system of geography teacher training which does not onlyconform to teachers’ characteristics but also suffices to improve the development of bothgeography teachers and training enterprise.Through researches, on the theoretical basis of the philosophy requirements ofgeography curriculum standards, Kirkpatrick evaluation theory and CIPP trainingevaluation theory, taking the experience of teachers participating the training andsubject teachers as practical basis, regarding the construction of the evaluation systemof junior middle school geography teachers as the principal line, based on thequestionnaire survey and the collected suggestions and recommendations from theteachers participating the training, after analyzing the survey results, the relativeweighting coefficient of each index is figured out with ranking method, and the evaluation system of middle school geography teachers is constructed with thecombination of interviewed experts’ experience and viewpoints. This evaluation systemis composed of5parts, namely evaluation indexes, evaluation items, weights,evaluation orders and suggestions. Evaluation indexes include10sub-indexes, namelytraining aims, teaching staff, training management, teaching contents, trainingresource,teaching methods, trained-teachers satisfaction the participants’ upgradedegree, the radiation effect of training and prominent features, and each sub-indexinvolves multiple evaluation contents, totally31items. The full credit of this evaluationsystem is110points. Except for the weight points, extra10points are added to teachingfeatures, and marks are given according to the experience of teachers participating thetraining and the subject teacher. The5evaluation orders rank from “superexcellentâ€,“excellentâ€,“goodâ€,“qualified†to “unqualifiedâ€. Through further interviews andinvestigations, the junior middle school geography teacher training evaluation system ismodified, adjusted and optimized so as to make it more reasonable, more feasible andmore effective, and the problem during the construction of the evaluation system as wellas the future improvement and exploration is put forward.r high school geographyteacher training evaluation system.
