Study On The Transform Of The Lower-achieving Students In Class Management

Abstract/Summary:
Class is an essentially important part in school. With the development of the societyand the progress of the science, class management is currently becoming more and morecomplicated due to the eminence of students’ personalities and the increase in the numberof only children and unattended students. Due to some social reasons, the students of thisschool study in groups to communicate well each other, which namely stratifying thestudents into A, B and C levels in accordance with their scores and performance. The classmainly consists of lower-achieving or badly-behaved students. And even there are lots oflower-achieving students, which make greater difficulty for the class management.The present study conducted a questionnaire survey in a class of a local middle schoolin Jiangyin, Jiang Su Province. The researcher also interviewed two lower-achievingstudents to obtain more details. The results show that these lower-achieving students arecharacterized by lower marks in exams, relatively ill behavior, emotional fragility, weaksense of independence and strong negative mentality. It is discovered that their familyeducation has many problems and the school overemphasizes students’ scores but ignoresideological and moral education, so they have become the real disadvantaged groups inschool. The present study attempts to analyze the possible reasons for this phenomenonfrom such perspectives as family, school and the society. In terms of class management, afew concrete measures are also suggested to transform these underachievers into healthyand happy students.
