The author found that, in view of the high school geographyteaching research now is still in the traditional high school geography class teachingtype teaching is given priority to, for some practical problems can only be imaginedgeography try to understand, students can not do it yourself operation to verify theresulting knowledge.The virtual reality technology with immersive, interactive, hasbeen conceived of as a high-tech with its unique advantages, causing widespreadconcern among the education scholars. The students experience in a virtualenvironment, the same as in the real world, and there is a sense of immersive andtimely manner to achieve the interactions between human and computers, students andstudents, teachers and students, and students can practice independently manipulated toacquire knowledge, to achieve the purpose of teaching and learning.Therefore, this study is based on this, the virtual reality technology is used in theteaching of high school geography, combined with the inquiry-based teaching modelwhich is based on VRP platform and3DS MAX、Dreamweaver technology, and wetake the Dissertation Recognize Earthquakes And Be Away From Disasters as anexample, we design and develop a Virtual Teaching Demonstration Platform forstudents from various angles to comprehensively understand the earthquake knowledge,to experience true feelings of earthquake hazards and to evacuate simulation plans inorder to improve the overall senses of escape earthquakes, to get rid of the idea ofsurvival in theory, and to improve students’ practical abilities, which is of greatsignificance for very practical geography teaching. On this teaching platform, studentscan learning earthquake knowledge independently, operate experimental models as wellas consolidating cognitive structures. This essay includes the research of the following six aspects.Chapter1: Introduction of the background Virtual Teaching DemonstrationPlatform, meaning, and current application status and elaboration to virtual realitytechnology in teaching at home and abroad.Chapter2: Overview of the definition of virtual reality technology, the definition ofthe characteristics and application advantages in geography teaching, and inquiry-basedteaching model, teaching model steps and analyze the theoretical basis for the study ofVirtual Teaching Demonstration Platform, and analyze the three aspects fromconstructivism learning theory, behavioral learning theory and cognitive learning theoryto provide theoretical support for the present study.Chapter3: Find out the problems in the teaching of geography through preliminaryinvestigation, and assure the need for affirmative study. Take the dissertation RecognizeEarthquakes And Be Away From Disasters as the Case, comprehensive Virtual TeachingDemonstration Platform for requirements analysis, functional design, and describe theoperation process of the Virtual Teaching Demonstration Platform.Chapter4: Develop specific Virtual Teaching Demonstration Platform fordeveloping tool soft wares such as3DS MAX, VRP and Dreamweaver8for a briefintroduction, detail the development process, and finally generate interactive webdocuments from modeling to developing a Virtual Teaching Demonstration Platform.Chapter5: Apply Virtual Teaching Demonstration Platform implementation, andevaluate teaching effectiveness. Practice shows that the virtual reality technology in theteaching of geography is very effective to stimulate the students ’ motivation to learn,and to improve the students’ practical skills in close contact between the reality of therelationship and geography teaching.Chapter6: The article to analyze and to make up for deficiencies, and the prospectfor the next procedures.
