Gender Performative And Gender Insubordination

Among all Western queer theory, Judith Butler’s theory of gender performative, dues to its strength, depth and breadth, dominates an important position. This article rereads Butler’s illustration of this theory in her book Gender Trouble, tries to clarify the inner logic of the theory.In addition, by analyzing the non-normal mode of gender perforamtive, this article tries to reconnect the theory and the gender subversive politics. The second chapter focuses on the background and content of gender performative, mainly discuss the constructiveness of sex, and the performativity of gender identity. The third chapter investigates how heterosexual matrix regulates the mode of gender performative, and how it produces gender oppression. This chapter also discusses the inner suppression structure of the normal heterosexual identity. The fourth chapter stresses on the parodic form of gender performative. By inspecting the gender disorder matrix that generated by lesbian identity representation, this chapter tries to rediscover the subversiveness of gender parody. In the conclusion part, this article draws an open expectation about a certain kind of queer subversive politics, and appeals to an expansion of the attention and representation about gender minorities’identity. Through the investigation and deconstruction of these identities, the purpose of resist the gender oppression and subvert the sexism could be attained.
