Exploration And Analysis:the Development Of Ethnic Social Work Education

The professional education of social work in china began in20s20, but it was canceled with sociology in20s50. The professional education of social work renewed in20s80. It has got rapid development since20s90, especially the enrollment expansion of colleges.The ethnic social work is the process of providing professional service to the minority with professional social work idea, theory and method. However in the education of social work, the ethnic social work education, namely academic education of social work and continuing education, has been ignored and developed slow. The domestic and foreign research on ethnic social work education has not formed systematic, most of what has been carried out from theory or macro level, and there haven’t had any special works.Ethnic social work started early in the USA where ethnic sensitive, ethnic oppression and ethnic discrimination and the like in social work practice and research fields have been rich. And this plays a great role in the USA ethnic social work education. In the aspects of designing and certificating curriculum systems, the number of minorities and indigenous of students and teachers in social work have drawn the attention of mainstream in the USA.In Canadian the multiculturalism policy has advantage to develop the ethnic social work education. Not only has it appeared bilingual teaching system in social work education, but also taken the allocation with the minority social workers and teachers serious in Canada.The aboriginal social work practice has achieved a relatively rich experience since the social work intervened in aboriginal tribes to carry out disaster management in19999.21when the earthquake in Taiwan, China. At the same time, research and practice of social work in the ethnic have been developed in Taiwan. This progress has promoted the development of aboriginal social work education in Taiwan. And the development was influenced by political and academic community deeply.It is great possible and impending to develop ethnic social work education in China, a united multi-ethnic state. China should make full use of the experience of foreign and overseas. Research and practice of ethnic social work has begun since20s20in domestic. So far about250colleges and universities have established professional social work appearing the direction of social work in ethnic minority areas for master and doctor. However the author found that ethnic social work education is still in trouble through the investigation of G University. With the lag of national social work practice and research, the development of social work education is relatively backward. By now, there haven’t had any domestic training bases of ethnic social workers. Meanwhile continuing education courses has lacked the sensitive of ethnic and cultural, and the social work profession qualification exam content and teaching materials basic haven’t involved the content of ethnic and culture. It is a better and faster path to develop the ethnic social work education by the related government departments making policy, practical, academia and education circle improving the social work profession autonomy of ethnic and cultural sensitivity consciously.
