Work-integrated learning makes full use of two kinds of education resources and educationenvironments of the school and society. It combines classroom learning with participate in practical work.On the premise of mutual benefit, it promotes comprehensive quality, comprehensive ability andemployment ability of students, provides applied talents for enterprises.After30years development, our hotel industry has gradually become mature. The rapid developmentof the hotel industry is in urgent need of high-quality skilled personnel. Hotel management highervocational colleges and universities have realized the great importance of work-integrated learning inhigher education, promoted work-integrated learning for tens of years, accumulated some experience. Someuniversities at home and abroad have made some encouraging results. The hotel management college ofCornell university in America adopts case teaching method. The teachers introduce the practical tendencyand problems of hotel industry to the classroom, and pay attention to convey new concepts and methods tostudents. They often ask students to do researches on specific projects, which can improve the student’senthusiasm, and also has a higher request for the teachers’ own quality. Lausanne hotel management collegeadopts school-enterprise unity mode. They adhere to hotel standards for teachers and students, so theeducation can continuously meet the needs of industry. Nearly half of the students can practice in the hotelin different countries and accumulate rich experience. Beijing tourism college adopts practical trainingmodel. Students can directly work in enterprises. At the same time, it also built a comprehensive trainingsystem, which provides school the rich resources of industry and high reputation.After years of practice, Zhengzhou tourism college has explored the "progressive five periods"work-integrated learning mode. This mode is made up with five stages of hotel enlightenment education(career cognition and experience), basic skills and hotel management study, practical work, comprehensiveability development and employment. It integrates theory with practice, classroom teaching with training,and schools with hotel, highlight the process of improvement of the students’ professional knowledge andprofessional ability. Under the "Progressive five periods" mode, hotels participate the whole process.Theoretical study and practice, service awareness and professional ethics is closely integrated. The arrangement of practical teaching is flexible. With the "Progressive five periods" mode, we make a series ofreform of hotel management teaching. First we revise the talent training scheme. In the teaching process,we emphasize the combination of school and enterprise, theory and practice, classroom teaching andtraining practice, which can ensure the development of students’ professional quality, hotel service skills,management methods and business potential. Then we integrated professional courses. The professionalabilities of hotel management can be divided into five parts---food and beverage service and management,front desk and guest room management, marketing, basic quality and professional quality. The curriculumintegration corresponds the integration of professional abilities. It is consistent with the requested ability,combines the students’ theoretical knowledge and practical ability. Third, we construct the core courseswith "work-integrated learning" characteristic. After the curriculum integration, catering service andmanagement, the front desk and guest room management, and the hotel marketing become the corecurriculums of hotel management teaching. According to the requirement of the core abilities, we constructcore curriculums with the "work-integrated learning" characteristics in collaboration with the hotel. Fourth,we construct professional teaching materials. Fifth, we innovate teaching mode, so as to combine the theoryand practice. Sixth, we strengthen practical teaching process. Seventh, we strengthen the securityconditions construction of work-integrated learning.Zhengzhou tourism college has made some achievements in the exploration of work-integratedlearning. First, the school-running mode is innovated. We originally formed the "Progressive five periods"personnel training mode, which is divided into five stages hotel enlightenment education (career cognitionand experience), the hotel service skills and management education, the practical work, comprehensivequality development and job choosing. This mode integrates theory with practice, classroom teachingwith training, schools with hotel, and highlights the process of the improvement of the students’professional knowledge and professional ability. Second, we innovates the curriculum system, and realizesthe systematic of hotel business courses. According to the hotel job skills and industry standards, the schooland the hotel enterprises design and integrate professional course together, and built hotel managementprofessional course system, striving for the cultivation of students’ comprehensive ability. Third,weinnovate teaching mode, realize the diversification of course and closely integrate theory and practice.Finally, we innovate the learning mode. Practice learning to introduce the hotel’s actual management and service to class, effectively extend the time, spatial and content.In addition, the "progressive five periods" mode also encounters bottleneck and problems in somehotel which are urgent to be solved. This thesis also puts forward some ideas for reference.
