Research On The Application Of Rasch Model In The Biology Concept Teaching

Biological concepts are important parts of biological knowledge system, andmastering certain biological concepts are the basic requirement to improve students’scientific accomplishment. Most literature about biology concept teaching is absorbedin the teaching methods and strategies, while little of it refers to the evaluation ofefficacy research. Rasch model is a kind of potential trait model with a quantitativeevaluation of teaching performance.Based on the quantified evaluation performance of Rasch model, this paper isgoing to research the theory and the method of its application in the biologicalconcept teaching. Specification contains the following three aspects:Firstly, using the Rasch model to evaluate learning performance test quality, andthe result reveals that the same test shows different difficulty on different classes, andthe tested questions shows different difficulty-sequence on different students. It alsoreveals the difference of liability, validity, differentiation and the questionsmismatching with the aim during the analysis of the same test on different classes.Secondly, using Rasch model to analyze students’ academic performance. As amatter of fact, some existing difference among some students may not bedistinguished, some students’ academic performance may not be identifiedscientifically, and some answer sheets may be invalid. All of these question will beexposed by using Rasch model.Thirdly, by putting the theory and method into practice, an helpful model used indesigning and improving biological concept teaching was exhibited as “Teachingdesigning-teaching-learning efficacy detection-model analysis-result feedback-modifying teaching design-teaching-learning effect testing-model analysis-resultfeedback”.The above results suggest that Rasch model is a effective tool to inspect andimprove the performance test, and plays a important role in boosting the efficiency ofteaching and learning.It can also analyze the error and liability of test result, and offera liable method to test students’ academic performance.Above research shows thatRasch model provides an effective way to test the quality of the assessment, theprecise analysis of students’ learning performance, and the improvement of teachingdesign.
