The Research Of The Status And Developing Strategies On College Students Tennis Associations In Henan Province

College sports associations, which are open, independent and multiple, raised in the early1980s.These associations have been seen as the nexus between the colleges and students, as well as the importantpart of the sports associations in China. Besides, they play a key role to improve students’ psychologicaland physical health, and enrich the atmosphere of college physical education.With the support of Outline of Nationwide Body-building Plan, and Higher Education Reform, collegestudents tennis associations has been the key part of college sports associations. The research on the statusof college students tennis associations points out the problems during the development of college studentstennis associations in Henan Province, additionally provides theoretical guidance for their development.This research is aiming to investigate the college students tennis associations among12typicaluniversities like Zhengzhou University, Henan University, Henan Institute of Science and Technology,Henan Normal University, etc. by literature review, interviews, questionnaire, and quantitative statistics.The investigation indicates the main problems for the status of college students tennis associations inHenan Province: first, the lack of money for these associations to guarantee their place and equipment;second, college students are aware of the benefits of tennis, but they rarely take part in this sports; third,college tennis associations concentrate on teaching tennis theory and skills, instead of practices, watchinggames and communications; fourth, teachers are relatively young and short of professional skills, with lessmonetary rewards; fifth, the funding methods of these associations are mainly based on the universities’support and membership fee; sixth, these associations are organised by the university and the student union,but mostly operated by students, who less professional to provide any guidance.In order to solve these existing problems and contribute to the development of college students tennisassociations, this research provides solutions and action plan accordingly:1. Increase the building of tennis place and relative equipment, and the availability of tennis place.2. Enhance the university leadership’s awareness for tennis sport.3. Make the tennis lesson more practical to meet students’ requirements.4. Improve the social influence of tennis sport. 5. Enhance tennis teachers’ theoretical and practical skills and improve their salary.6. Organise more tennis games and communications to support the socialization of college tennissport.
