With the global proliferation of knowledge economies and the corresponding thirst for human capital,humanistic qualities, are today, are more important than ever before. University students are the future leaders of China, their humanistic qualities are extremely important. With the recent rapid economic development in China, there is a rising demand for talented individuals who possess high-level humanistic qualities.Humanistic qualities are very important for university students. They affect their overall development. So,how do we develop talented individuals who possess high-level humanistic qualities for our new economy?How can we improve students’ humanistic qualities? How can we promote the all-round development ofuniversity students? These are issues we currently face.University students are typically at critical crossroads in their lives. During such an important stage inlife, there has to be an incentive for students to develop their humanistic qualities. Evaluations of thehumanistic qualities of university students is such an incentive. This paper discusses students’ humanisticqualities evaluation from at two levels–both the macro and micro levels. At the macro level, we examinethe various problems and roles of humanistic qualities evaluation. At the micro level, we will take a morein-depth look at humanistic evaluation and discuss how we can tailor it to evaluate students from vastlydifferent backgrounds.Judging from the current situation in China, the evaluation of university students’ humanisticqualities remains a difficult issue. There is inadequate research into this area and evaluations are oftenunscientific and ineffective. There are still problems with respect to the current system of evaluation of thehumanistic qualities of universities students. The current system cannot properly motivate and guidestudents’ all-round development. There is an urgent need to re-examine the current system of evaluation ofhumanistic qualities in China.This paper hopes to provide the basis to build a more scientific and rational model of evaluation ofhumanistic qualities of college students. One that is aligned with the goals of higher education and thataddresses the different backgrounds and majors of the students. Further study and research can be donebased on the foundation provided by this paper.To properly evaluate the humanistic qualities of university students, we need to construct a proper evaluation system and model. A general evaluation of the humanistic qualities of university students isnecessary but if only a general evaluation is performed, it is difficult to inspire and guide students.Therefore, an in-depth evaluation of the humanistic qualities of college students should be done at themicro level. This paper builds upon the principles and uses of humanistic evaluation by suggesting anevaluation model that addresses the different backgrounds and majors of the students.
