Since2001, English teaching in primary school has entered into a rapid developing period since2001when English course was officially included in primary school curriculum in China. On one hand, most parents hope to lay a sound foundation for their children’s English learning. On the other hand, more and more parents hope to make their children international talents adjust to globalization. Thus they begin to pay more attention to the early stage English education.Primary school is the key phase of students’English learning. Open English course at this period is according to students’physical and psychological features, as well as English learning rules. Training students in this period can effectively improve their foreign language and mother language level. But primary English teaching is facing a dilemma that teaching is tough for teachers and learning is tired for students, which means bad study results. At an early stage, students can learn English with sound initiative. But with growing age and increasing learning time, their learning initiative is decreasing. Many students do not know the reason of learning which results in the bad English learning capability. So what is the reason of it? After observing English learning state in primary school, the paper analyses the changing in different ages and make the following conclusions:1、Decline of students’ interests is the main reason of their decreasing study initiative.2、To stimulate and maintain their English learning interests is the main method to improve their English learningThe paper conclusion is formed through reference and empirical analysis, which also put forward improvements for English learning at primary school stage, namely, arousing and maintaining their English learning interests to prevent the decline.
