| In1957, the sports training major was founded in China. Since then, this major played an important role in promoting instructors and the whole sports team’s cultural quality, in fulfilling sportsmen, in helping holding the Olympic Games and in cultivating sports instructors and sports teachers. Now, the sports training major has gained more attention from higher education. And recently, some changes happened. Since2000, as the system of market economy was gradually established, the sports industry gained a quick development and the student pool also experienced a great change. Besides, social needs for such sports personnel also changed, which caused that some curriculum was not helpful for this major’s development. Therefore, to have the sports training major gained a quicker development in China, some changes should be made to this major. And such changes should be on curriculum and system. This essay mainly made a careful analysis about the curriculum plans in sports training major from seven colleges in China, applying methods such as searching information, comparison and analysis, and interview and survey. Firstly, this essay gives a scientific definition of curriculum about sports and its significance. The curriculum in sports training major is the total of objective of sports education in universities, a good instruction of students and all the relevant factors. It mainly involves goal setting, curriculum structure, curriculum contents, detailed schedule of curriculum and the education system whose main part is the education program. Secondly, this essay analyzes the development of this major. The education objective mainly involves sportsmen, instructors and the mutual changes between them. The education objective at present has some disadvantages, for example, it is not clear-cut. Based on the curriculums in sports training majors from the chose seven universities, this essay made an analysis about the proportion of some basic lessons like humanistic quality course, the proportion of required courses and elective courses, the proportion of basic courses and specialized courses, and the proportion of humanistic sociology courses and natural science courses, and the proportion of specialized courses’ class hours and social practice hours.According to the result, this essay finds that the curriculum and education objective of sports training majors in Jilin Province is guided by the market. So the curriculum and education objective focus on the requirements for comprehensive sports personnel in new century, reflecting the idea of "People Oriented". Besides, the curriculum structure is composed of general courses, specialized courses and social practice. And specialized courses are composed of required courses and elective ones. The elective courses are further composed of restricted elective courses and random elective ones. What’s more, there is a trend that elective courses are added because that some universities want to improve students’ comprehensive abilities. However, some elective courses become required ones in practice because of factors from teachers and universities, then students lose decision-making right. At the same time, the curriculum is not in a balanced proportion. In details, the specialized courses on theories and general courses have more class hours, while required courses are in a large proportion and interdisciplinary knowledge in elective courses is not enough. Generally, specialized elective courses take too many class hours while knowledge on theories in specialized elective courses is in a too small proportion. In other words, physical training is focused while knowledge on professional theories is ignored. Then the education in sports training major becomes a cultivation of sportsmen, which violates the original purpose. Also, the social practice is not in control. There is little strict supervision then students made little progress in applying the learned professional knowledge in practice. As a consequence, it is necessary for sports training majors in Jilin Province to make new appropriate and practical curriculum plans based on the education objective and practical conditions. Only in this way, can the sports training major become professional and excellent to provide more qualified sports personnel and provide referential theories and decision-making basis for a sounder and sustainable development of sports training major. |
