Since the reform and opening up, China has experienced from a planned economy to market economy transformation. In this revolution, the job-housing structure in Chinese cities has undergone tremendous changes, leading to a series of social problems, such as increase of long time commuting, traffic congestion and environmental pollution etc, and these social problems have invited extensive concern of numerous scholars in urban geography, city planning and transportation. This is a case study of Beijing city, in which4000questionnaires have been sent out in2010. This study, taking average commuting time as indicator, bases on the independent effect among residence and working places, personal social-economic attribute and employment character to Home-work Separation, and explores the influence of the interaction of home-work, personal social-economic attribute and employment character to average commuting time mainly through interaction analysis and geographic director. Major findings are summarized as follows:(1) By one-way anova analysis, a conclusion is drawn that the influence of residence, working places, education, family composition, family income, career, unit scale, company property and position attribute significantly influenced average commuting time while the effect of age on average commuting time is not significant.(2) By interaction analysis, it comes to a conclusion that there exists interaction effect among residence and working places, career and education, as well as unit scale and company property. The interaction among these factors has great effect on average commuting time.(3) By geographical detector analysis, it concludes that education, unit scale, residence and career attribute influences average commuting time most, while age and position has a little influence on average commuting time.(4) By interaction detector analysis, it reaches the following conclusion: the interaction between residence and working places have the strongest impact on the average commuting time; the interaction between unit scale and education has a mutually reinforcing effect on commuting time; the interaction between career and other factors has a synergistic reinforcement effect on commuting time; the interaction among unit scale, position, education, age and family income has a mutual independent effect on average commuting time.
