An Research Into The Current Situations And Development Of Amateur Badminton Club In Lanzhou City

With the improvement of economy and living standard in Lanzhou, the public tend to havemore leisure time and they have been launching a heated favor of badminton. Consequently,amateur badminton club of all kinds come into existence, which establishes a great platform forthe development of amateur cause in Lanzhou.Based on the methods of literature review, Delphimethod, interview with experts, questionnaires, statistics and logical analysis, this research firstlyinvestigated and interviewed the members, managers, trainers and related experts of amateurbadminton clubs in Lanzhou. It then found out the problems and shortcomings and the key factorsexisting in and influencing the development of local amateur badminton clubs. Finally, it putforward the tendency of development and corresponding suggestions for the local amateurbadminton clubs. It could be concluded that:1) an overwhelming majority of the local amateurbadminton clubs were found to be small and medium-sized, which could be classified into4typesbased on the source of their funds. The existing amateur badminton clubs are distributedunbalanced in different areas but the funds they have can basically maintain their function atpresent. However, the registrations to these clubs are not optimistic.2) The members of theseclubs are mainly males with pre-college or college certificates and medium and higher incomesand these members are mainly the young and the old. They have different purposes of registrationinto these clubs, but their main purpose is to stay healthy. They think highly of the equipment butare not satisfied with the numbers and the workers in the game venues.3) The managers of theseclubs are mainly male enthusiast of badminton with college degree and they are the starters ofthese clubs, so they lack the professional knowledge and comprehensive knowledge ofmanagement. Furthermore, their ability to run these clubs are to be promoted.4) The trainers ofthese clubs are mainly part-time middle-aged men. They lack the corresponding theories ofscientific training and their monthly income is in the middle level of local citizens, which resultfrom the poor qualities of trainers due to the shortness of corresponding training organizations fortrainers.5) The local amateur competing teams and members are increasingly year by year but thecompetitions are fewer, which are because the related sport management acted slowly in thepublicity of local amateur competitions and the of the program setting, the planning of smallscale and low prizes and the marketing of the competitions in Lanzhou.6) The main factors thataffect the development of local amateur badmintons clubs are the income of the public, thebuilding of the equipment in the game venues, the management and organizations of clubs, thepeople’s habits of sport exercises and their knowledge of badminton, the cultivation of professional trainers, the set-up and publicity of competitions.Therefore, this research suggested:1) to raise the attention from the administration, carry out the management principles and developthe functions of the associations.2) to enhance the building of equipment in the game venues,improve the frequency of uses and make up for the unbalance of space.3) to improve thecomprehensive qualities of managers in these clubs, fulfill their own tasks and promote themanagement of these clubs.4) to combine the requirements of the public, build the training rulesof badminton trainers and judges and strengthen the team building of trainers and judges,Improvebadminton referees professional quality and create a good amateur badminton tournamentatmosphere,promote the development.5) to promote the publicity of competitions, widen thechannels of competition registration for these clubs and enrich the activities of competitions.
