The ideology, as the ideological system reflecting fundamental interest of specificclass or social group, has played an essential role in the course of social integration. The90s generation constitutes the main community of the present college students, so agood education of the mainstream ideology to them has a direct effect on carrying onthe construction of socialism featuring Chinese characteristics as well as the vicissitudeof socialism and communism courses. Hence, it’s a topic with strategic significance tostudy on the mainstream ideology education of the90s generation to improve itseffectiveness.This paper combined theoretic analysis with empirical study and finished it withself-designed questionnaire, literature research and interviews.The first section has defined the concept of ideology, mainstream ideology andmainstream ideology education, and proposed the significance of mainstream ideologyeducation to the90s college students.The second section has analyzed the new situation confronting the mainstreamideology education to the90s college students. Questionnaire towards90s collegestudents in three local schools in Jiangxi Province has been conducted to analyze thestate of the mainstream ideology education, thus pointing out the problems existed atpresent. Those are the ideology diversity of90s college students, the rigidity ofeducation content, the singleness of teaching forms and approaches, the increasingcomplexity of educational environment and the necessity to enhance quality andcapability of education team.The third section has put forward specific countermeasures to improve mainstreamideology education to the90s college students, as targeting at current problems byconsidering the actual condition of the90s students. First, stick to to lead the socialtrend of thought with the socialist core value system; second, innovate the activitycarrier of mainstream ideology education; third, improve the education approach tostrengthen the effectiveness of mainstream ideology education; fourth, optimize theenvironment, forging a good ambiance for mainstream ideology education; fifth,enhance the construction of mainstream ideology education team.
