The Study On The Socialist Core Value System Leading University Students’ Values

The contemporary university students’ outlook of values in China has showncomplexity and diversification, the education of university students’ outlook of valueshas become the main part of the education. The Sixth Plenum of the16th CPC CentralCommittee pointed out that the construction of socialist core value system is neededto form the whole nation’s spirit striving to make progress and the bond ofharmonious unity. The18th CPC National Congress advocated building stronger andprosperous, civilized, democratic, harmonious society; freedom, justice, equality, therule of law, advocate patriotism, integrity, professionalism, friendship; and cultivatingthe socialist core values. The university students are the main force to construct aharmonious socialist society, as well as the successors to advance the socialism withChinese characteristics. During the period of the social transformation, leading theuniversity students’ education of values outlook with socialist core value system hasbecome an important issue in ideological and political education to study. From themain parts of the socialist core value system, this article points the present situationand existing problems in the education of university students’ outlook of values andstudies how to guide the development of it with the socialist core value system. Thearticle is discoursed upon the following parts.Part one analyses the general situation of contemporary university students’values in our country and points out that the mainstream is positive and practical,however, there also exist some problems to whose reasons this artical makes anin-detailed analysis.Part two which begins with the background and process of the socialist corevalue system to explains the necessity and urgency of contemporary universitystudents’ values education. It illustrates the socialist core value system theory fully byexpounding the meaning and the effect on contemporary university students valueseducation, pointing out that the teaching of the socialist core value system is an important move for insuring university students to develop healthily.Part three elaborates the principles and substance of carrying out contemporaryuniversity students’ values education with the socialist core value system, includingPeople-oriented principle, the principle of seeking truth from facts, the principle oforientation, the education principle of combining positive guidance and criticaleducation, and innovation. The socialist core value system leads contemporaryuniversity students’ education of values mainly in leading students to firmly stick tomarxisism belief, setting socialism with Chinese characteristics as the common ideal,inspiring the national spirit and the spirit of the age, and building up the concept ofEight Honors and Eight Shames.Part four discuses the methods and the ways of how to promote the universitystudents’ values education. The university students’ education of the socialist corevalue system can not stay only in conceptual level, instead, it should be realized inpractice. Thus in five aspects, combining the socialist core value system anduniversity teaching, campus network construction, university students’ social practice,campus cultural development, university management and service organically isnecessary. Put the socialist core value system into the university education, to guidethe students to set up the correct outlook of values and shoulder the historical missionto construct a socialist harmonious society and realize the great rejuvenation of theChinese nation.
