At the end of19centuries and the beginning of20centuries, Western progressive educationmovement was warm to carry out, which argued against the traditional education formalism, tomake education fitting to children, and Dewey was the spiritual leader of the socialist educationprogress. Based on her own education and managerial experience in running a school,Ms parkerhursted by Dewey’s education thought founded the Dalton plan. And she established its threeprinciples:"freedom","cooperation","plan.And in order to make students more passion andpower, she aslo put forward to set up the laboratory, study the convention, teaching chart,etc..This has produced important influences on education not only for Europe and the UnitedStates,but aslo for china education at the beginning of20th century.This paper reviews thepropagation process of Dalton plan in the first half of the20th century in our country, to probe intothe "localization" path,and the reason Dalton in our ultimate failure.Firslyt, the reason Dalton produced, its Theoretical basis, the three basic principles.Secondly, Dalton plan’s evolution progress in Chinese language teaching. The change ofmodern society needed modernization education, especially Sino fiasco,to bring big changes inpeople thought,more emphasis on study of national education system, education method, etc.Dalton after entering China, experienced a rise with the tide, and then silence Xing, disappear andcome back. Despite its failure result finally, but still had a deeping impact on education in ourcountry.Thirdly, theory and practice of "localization" about Dalton plan. More people are combiningthis system with other advanced teaching methods, such as design teaching method, gray system,etc., Gray, reasonable access to one of the ingredients; addition to the operating room andteaching through the transformation of the chart to make Dalton better adapt to China’s educationwas real.Fourth, the Shanghai Wusong School and East Junior High School language teachingexperiment. By analyzing their experiment reasons、preparation、through、result and effect.specific knowledge of Dalton ’s "native" mode.In the end. Dalton reason in our ultimate failure, and its current some enlightenment aboutour chinese teaching.By analyzing the reasons for its failure to explore the significance of Dalton era of reform on China’s current language teaching.
