Network teaching platform is a software system enabling online education.Being convenient to scale, it is widely adopted by higher educational institutions tosupplement face-to-face classroom teaching, aiming for improve their teachingmodels. Blending teaching model is a widely accepted teaching model used bynetwork teaching platform of many higher educational institutions. However, thismodel presents a few problems at practice, and different institutions make use of thismodel in vastly different way. Therefore, the blending teaching model used bynetwork teaching platform needs an overhauled instructional system design toimprove efficiency.This paper studied on researches conducted both at home and abroad, andanalyzed the theories on the nature and characteristics of blending teaching model,and theories on instructional system design. Through investigation of the current stateof adopting blending teaching model used by network teaching platform at higheducation institutions, the paper strived to understand the current state and theproblems involved during teaching practice. Based on domain theories andinvestigation results, the paper proposed a new instructional system design for highereducational institutions to adopt blending teaching model. And the paper proved thefeasibility of this instructional system design, based on its application at classroom ofa sample higher educational institution.
