As a key point in junior middle school Chinese teaching, modernnarrative and argumentative writing always deserve high attention.According to “Chinese Course Standards in Compulsory Education”from Education Department, reading and writing are emphasized inChinese teaching from Grade7to Grade9. Due to the differencesbetween narrative and argumentative writing, teaching will beconducted from the elementary to the profound. By employing properand effective teaching methods in reading and writing, teachers caninstruct students to learning narrative and argumentative writingin a better way.By combining with the writer’s teaching experience, this researchfocuses on reading and writing’s teaching methods for bothnarrative and argumentative writing. Meanwhile, the influencesfrom the reading teaching to writing teaching in the two types ofwriting are also mentioned. Purpose of the study is to apply thetheory of teaching methods in modern narrative and argumentativewriting to practical teaching at junior middle school. It’s as areference for teachers to conduct teaching as well.For difficulties which students will get in the transition fromnarrative learning to argumentative writing learning, ways to dealwith the transition are indicated by the writer. It hopes this research can be propitious for teachers to avoid the disjunctionin reading and writing’s teaching from narrative to argumentativewriting. Then students’ Chinese reading and writing competencescan be continuously developed.
