Interest is an inner driving power for students’ learning, which is very important inthe whole English learning process and is the key to successful English learning.If students are interested in English learning, they may have a strong will to learnEnglish well and take an active part in their English study. Meanwhile, to cultivate seniorhigh school students’ English learning interest is the requirement of the Senior EnglishCurriculum Standard (2003). Thus, it is very important to do a research on how tomotivate students’ interest in English.On the basis of pedagogy, psychology and foreign language teaching theories, theresearch methods of the thesis include literature review, questionnaires, interview andobservation and other research methods to ensure a more comprehensive research on theinterest in learning English of senior high school students. Through the investigation andresults analysis, this paper sums up the training strategies in English learning interest. Firstof all, it helps teachers, learners and educational researchers deepen the understanding ofthe English subject, English teaching theories and English learning interest theories. On theother hand, it provides reference and guidance for teachers to conduct English classroomteaching in order to improve English teaching effects and students’ learning interest.This paper first presents the reasons why we do this research and also analyzes theresearch background, purposes, significance, the research content and the methods.Chapter two is the literature review, introducing the domestic and international state of thisfield and relevant theories. Next, the author starts an investigation about senior high schoolstudents’ interest in English learning by using the means of questionnaire, interview andobservation. And then, in this chapter the survey results are analyzed to figure out thegeneral condition and characteristics of the senior high school students’ interest in learningEnglish. The fourth chapter and the fifth chapter is the main body of the article, includingcomparing and analyzing the research results, finding out some questions from the results,giving some teaching suggestions according to the collected literature and some excellent teachers’ experience in this field. The sixth chapter is the conclusion. This part mainlystates the research results and the deficiency of this research. It also puts forward the set ofeffective specific strategies for improving students’ interest.
