As the capital city of Jiangxi province, Nanchang has become a model city for itsrapidly development in the rising of centre China. With the social progressing, morepublic attention has been paid to the physique and health level of the citizens. Thephysique and health condition of the infants at3~6year-old is profoundly significantto that of the adults. In one sense, it becomes even more important to study thephysical condition of the infants which decides how the quality and physical conditionis of the adults in future Nanchang.Based on the data of the infants of the third nationwide National PhysiqueMonitoring in2010, the research studied and analyzed the physical features of theinfants in Nanchang. The research conducted kind of14index tests to503infants age3~6, including their height, sitting height, chest, weight, skinfold thickness (shoulder, upper arm and abdomen),HRrest, standing long jump, tennis ball throwing, feetconsecutive jump, sit and reach,10m shuttle run and balance beam walking and thelike. The main research results are as follows:The indexes of the body patterning and physical function of the infants age3~6in Nanchang meet with the general “stable growth” law. That is, the indexes of themale and female infants, including the height, sitting height, weight, chest, and theskinfold thickness of the shoulder, upper arm and abdomen increases with age. HRrestshowed a downward trend with age increasing. Also, there is a gender difference: theaverage indexes of the height, sitting height, weight, and chest of male infants arehigher than female infants in each age group. However, the average indexes of theskinfold thickness of the female infants are higher than the male infants in each agegroup. Statistically, the HRrest between the male and female infants age3~6year-oldare much the same, which says that the development of infants’ physical function areapproach. The height and sitting height indexes of the3~6year-old male and female infantshave an increasing trend with age. However, the body substantial, body density andbodily circumference of the male infants grow faster than female infants; and theouter body shape of the male infants also changes greater than the female infants ineach age group. Also, in each age group the change speed of the3~5year-old maleinfants’ body substantial and body density is faster than female infants. The bodyshape of the infants grows fastest at3~4and the body function of the infants has themost significant change at4-5. The body patterning of the suburb infants is better thanthe rural infants comprehensively; nevertheless their body function is approach. According to the study, much of the physical quality indexes of the3~6year-oldinfants in Nanchang are increasing stably. In this age group, the gender differencemakes sense to the body quality development. The strength quality, speed andsensitivity quality, balance quality of the male infants are better than the femaleinfants. The female infants’ flexibility is better than male infants.3-5ages is asensitive period for the changes of the body quality. Obviously, the developing speedof the strength quality and balance quality is faster than that of the speed andsensitivity quality, and flexibility. And in this age phase, the economy condition andgeographical differences influence the body quality developing level of urban andrural infants.Compared to the infants in the same age group in2005, the body patterning andphysical function of the infants of the infants in Nanchang in2010have improved. In2010, the qualified rate of the physique of the female infants in Nanchang is slightlyhigher than the male infants; the qualified rate of urban infants is much higher thanrural infants. Compared to the qualified rate of infants in Nanchang in2005, there is arise in2010. There is still a qualified rate distance between urban and rural infants.Nevertheless, the distance was decreasing since2005. Comprehensively, the bodyquality indexes of the female infants are higher than the male infants; the urbaninfants are higher than the rural infants. Compared to2005, the comprehensive bodyquality indexes of the overall city, the female infants and the rural infants areincreasing, and which of the male infants and urban infants are decreasing.Whether in the view of gender difference or of the urban and rural difference, generally, the physique qualified rate and the comprehensive body quality indexes ofthe infants in Nanchang are lower than the nationwide average rate of the nationalinfants. The comprehensive body quality indexes of the female infants and ruralinfants are higher than the nationwide average rate. Since the first nationwideNational Physique Monitoring in2000, the improvement of the whole body qualitylevel of infants in Nanchang is lower than the improvement of the nationwide infants. However, the improvement of the whole body quality level of female and rural infantsin Nanchang is higher than the improvement of the nationwide female and ruralinfants.
