Comparative Research Of Conceptions Of National Spirit In Russian And Chinese Philosophy

National spirit, as the national core and soul, is the common quality and spiritual style of a nation. Both Russian and Chinese have developed deep national spirits during the long-term history development. Russia and China are neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and have close ties in politics, economics, culture and society and so on. In the context of economic globalization and cultural diversity, the friendship between the two countries is unprecedentedly high. The comparative study of Russian and Chinese nationalities in an academic level contributes to seek common ground while maintaining difference, and enhance the mutual progress.With the comparative analysis and unity of logic and history, this thesis concentrate on a comprehensive and logical study of Russian and Chinese national spirit, respectively, based on wide range of literature available altogether in Russian, Chinese and English. First of all, Russian national spirit is examined. The main content and basic characteristics of Russian national spirit, the geographical pattern across Eurasia, orthodox culture, unique history and changes in the global scenarios are analyzed. The creative minorities have influences over the formation and development of Russian national spirit. Why and how to carry forward and cultivate the national spirit are also been mentioned. Secondly, Chinese national spirit is studied. The main content and basic characteristics of Chinese national spirit, consist geographical pattern of eastern continent as well as influences of Confucian thought, Marxism and socialist system for development are explained. Finally, Russian and Chinese national spirits are compared. Both spirits have certain differences based on various factors and also have similarities, including patriotism, unity and self-reliance. It is significant to study the way in which both Russians and Chinese advocate the national spirit and the similar methods they adopt to carry forward national spirit.Main contributions of the thesis can be divided into following three parts. Firstly, Russian-Chinese national spirits are studied from a new perspective, which is rare in the past academic results. Secondly, instead of simply describing or listing the content of national spirit, their essence and characteristics are analyzed from the philosophical level. Thirdly, the fundamental mode of Russian national spirit are deeply analyzed, including the paradox of spiritual expression, impetuous extremes of emotional life, religious pursuit of absolutism, national affirmation as well as love toward freedom.
